The artist was likely inspired by the colorful checkerboard blocks of Ellsworth Kelly’s Colors for a Large Wall, 1951, now in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art. The artist’s looser interpretation of Kelly’s strict monochromatic blocks of color give us a more relaxed abstract work that fits nicely in both transitional interiors as well as more contemporary settings.
